As a charity we have tried to build a model of operation that is as sustainable as possible because we understand the importance of continuity when it comes to developing community – as quality relationships take time & effort.
Our basic model for survival since 1994 has been based upon engaging creative practitioners to use the building to help local people through projects that they generate as commissions or funded work from grant giving trusts. Through this income they then pay rent to the charity that runs the building, Brookfield Spaceplace – the hope being that this then covers most of the basic bills and keeps the door open for the peer support groups & activities to happen voluntarily.
In these difficult times though making end meet is a struggle ……………. We have a policy not to charge local people for activities (or brews) but we are wanting to utilise the generosity of others outside of the area who might want to donate to our charity for things like art materials, refreshments, event costs and energy bills. To this aim please find below a PayPal button where you can make a donation and help us to help people on the Brookfield estate. Thank you, any amount would be gratefully received.
